Cracka Review

2014 was a pretty good year in the Hunter Valley and industry stalwarts De Bortoli have turned out this semillion at a totally affordable price. Water-white in appearance and light in style, it shows lots of yellow citrus on the nose with whiffs of cut grass, whilst the palate is light-bodied (11.5% alcohol), with zippy lemony flavours, a soft edge to the acidity making it quite approachable and a dry, bright finish. The ideal bargain seafood wine!

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is sourced from the De Bortoli Hunter Valley vineyards where the Semillon vines date back to the 1960's. With the Semillon we have consciously made a young, racy style of wine with lower acidity that can be enjoyed in its youth but will develop over time.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Fresh, lively style which has barely developed in the first year of its life, and needs more time; will improve.
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Spotlessly clean and crisp; light cut-grass touches to green apple and citrus fruit; still to flower.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Youthful, tight, crisp, fine and long; its whole life in front of it. Gold medal Sydney Wine Show '06.
