Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
The most enticing and expressive of a long line of Hunter 2009s, this wine showcases the intrigue of cold pre-ferment maceration and wild yeast, in its perfume and flavour of juicy berry fruits and plum cake spice. Its soft, fine tannins and lingering finish make it very appealing as a medium-bodied style.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Bright garnet; the bouquet exhibits a savoury personality of red fruits, fresh leather, bramble and spice; medium-bodied and surprisingly chewy, with the toasty oak and red fruits combining with ease.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A single-vineyard Hunter shiraz that has plenty of bright fragrant lift, musk and strawberry, some meaty elements and plenty of spice. The palate's mid-weight, showing a web of fine tannins and bright strawberry/berry flavours, very even throughout.

A fresh and fragrant bouquet and palate, with particularly expressive cherry, plum and blackberry fruit, the tannins fine, the oak good.

Campbell Mattinson (2007 Vintage) says
"Totally delicious. Gorgeously ripe and smooth with plummy, earthen fruit flavour lightly coated with cedary, musky oak. It has excellent balance, lovely mouthfeel, enough fruit-weight without being over the top, and a good, solid, velvety finish. Clean, ripe, and supple."

Tyson Stelzer (2007 Vintage) says
"The sphere of influence Steve Webber has permeated as far as the Hunter, and it's never been more apparent than in this wine where the northern Rhone meets the Hunter Valley. Phenomenal, fine tannins; unrelenting, seamless red fruit persistence; layer after layer of spicy complexity. A new era begins."

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Pleasant, light-bodied style with freshness and vibrancy. Still very youthful.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Bright purple-red; another dimension of power, yet not at all over the top. Medium- to full-bodied palate, concentrated and powerful, with balanced tannins.
