De Bortoli Windy Peak Heathcote Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2012 Vintage) says
Has authentic Heathcote ever been seen before at $10 (Wine List Australia, Aussie Wines, Nillumbik Cellars and No Frills)? Inspired by the shape of Côte du Rhône wines, this is an accurate expression of the savoury restraint, black fruit depth and earthy tannin structure of northern Heathcote, spiced up with the subtle exotic perfume of 10% whole bunches and the finishing touch of 20% old oak. An effortless quaffer, ready for pizza, pasta and BBQ action. 2013
Campbell Mattinson (2012 Vintage) says
The Windy Peak range almost always offers great value, but the team at De Bortoli has excelled with this release. It’s stylishly put together, generally low in oak, has a polished feel about it and a savoury element too. Put it this way, it doesn’t taste like a $14 bottle of wine. It tastes more like $20-plus territory. Youthful, energetic and more-ish.
Campbell Mattinson, 60 Great Reds, Aug/Sept 2013
James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Vivid, deep purple-crimson; itÍs a sign of the times that a wine such as this should be part of the Windy Peak range, comprehensively over-delivering with its densely packed, succulent black fruits held in a web of soft tannins and soft acidity. Outstanding value.
