Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Why a blend of Marlborough and Auckland grapes was chosen to 'best represent New Zealand's regional styles' (the criteria for the Winery Selection label) is not explained, but the 1998 vintage is a classy wine. The bouquet is richly fragrant, with lots of toasty oak; the palate is youthful, tight, mealy and mouthfilling, with beautiful poise and firm acidity threaded through its fresh, strong, citrusy, peachy flavours. It's a big wine, developing well.
