Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A dark-fruited, oaky but distinctively regional shiraz whose medium to full-bodied expression of blackberries, dark plums and mulberries reveals dusty herbal, tomato leaf-like notes. Its chocolatey, mocha-like bouquet of dark berries and plums reveals meaty, lightly spicy undertones while its polished and dark-fruited palate is firmish but pliant, with some savoury qualities.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Deep magenta; an impressive bouquet of black and red fruits, violets and a tangible mineral note, surely a result of a mature vineyard planted in 1987; the palate is generous and sweet-fruited on entry, with structure and savoury complexity remaining on the balanced, long and inviting conclusion.
Australian Wine Companion 2013 2012
Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
Perhaps the most elegant and stylish expression of this single original vineyard yet released. Savoury and slightly spicy aromas with a subtle seasoning of oak in the background. The palate has a sinewy strongly linear structure yet there is flesh and fruit intensity waiting to reveal itself with further cellaring. Like the cab merlot from this year, palate structure is a feature. A beauty.

Ray Jordan (2009 Vintage) says
Emerging as one of the best shiraz from Margaret River. This slightly northern part of the region produces a distinctive style. It has wonderful fruit intensity with a strong savoury character. The tannin threads and quality oak work in tandem to carry this to a very long finish. These wines seem to get better each year. Good one for the cellar. yet it's so soft and generously approachable now.

WINESTATE (2008 Vintage) says
Good, clean, medium-weight commercial style full of stewed fleshy fruit. Soft on the finish.
WINESTATE Volume 34 (2011) 2011
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Rich and full-bodied wine, displaying power way beyond its modest alcohol; red and black fruits and dusty tannins are backed by obvious French oak.

Ray Jordan (2007 Vintage) says
A very classy expression of Margaret River Shiraz. Succulent rich fruit flavours with a savoury character that carries to a long finish. The oak is well weighted. The fine ripe tannin structure is a feature of the wine which is controlled and long. Good balance completes a very good wine.Ê

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Bags of fruit but oak still dominates. Full-bodied palate and some slightly grippy tannins.
Winestate 20082009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Initially medium-bodied, then bolstered by fine, persistent tannins running through the length of the palate; blackberry and plum fruit has very good length and aftertaste; 14 months in French oak barely shows.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Good colour; a most attractive fusion of red and black fruits, spicy French oak and gentle, ripe tannins; great balance and mouthfeel.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; firm blackberry and plum fruit; fine tannins; good French oak handling.
