Cracka Review

Hailing from EnZed, Delta Wines is the brainchild of winemaker Matt Thomson, and Liberty Wines importer and Master of Wine, David Gleave. This is certainly an 'in your face' style of savvy, with plenty of gooseberries, melons and passionfruit tropicals on the nose, with hints of grassiness. The palate is quite dry and more medium-bodied, with brisk lemony acidity, minerally texture, and a decent finish. Another good seafood savvy.

Winemaker's Notes

Classic Marlborough pungency and varietal definition. Aromas of white currants, black- currants, and ripe tropical notes including melon.

A full palate, which finishes with fresh acidity. Currant and mineral characters linger for minutes.

Serve lightly chilled.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
In keeping with its established style, this plays more in the fresh grass and herb spectrum, with some green mango, citrus and bath-powder florals. The palate's smoothly shaped and neatly balanced, delivering a flavoursome package that finishes nice and tidy.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A more savoury herb and grass style of Marlborough sauvignon, with some basil leaf and background tropical fruits. The palate has a tight, zippy burst of passionfruit and a lingering sizzle of citrusy acid through the finish. Crisp and refreshing, aperitif-style.

Matt Skinner (2008 Vintage) says
The combination of Kiwi winemaker Matt Thomson and Canadian-born MW David Gleave is a formidable one. Together they are responsible for Delta Ð a Marlborough-based venture committed to producing top-drawer pinot noir and sauvignon blanc. This stylish example of the latter, taken from the mouth of the Waihopai Valley, reveals a classic nose of blackcurrant, banana skin, guava and minerals, and a mouthfeel that is bright and intense with plenty of upfront stone fruit, mouthwatering acidity and great length of flavour.
