Cracka Review

If you are ever in the Adelaide Hills you should try and make a deviation to check out the work of Hamish and Kate Laurie at Deviation Road. They specialise in making cool climate wines from their boutique operation near Stirling. This Sparkling is really on the money thanks to spending 12 months on yeast lees to aid depth and complexity. The nose is lifted with red berries and freshly cut apples as well as a yeasty character. It’s creamy and fresh with clean acids and a persistent finish that would make it a blinding match for smoked salmon on sourdough.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2011 Loftia is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay grapes selected from the cool south-facing slopes high in the Adelaide Hills. Ageing for a minimum of 18 months on lees adds complex nut and toasty hints to the sweet cherry and crisp green apple fruit aromas. The palate is crisp, with a lingering, mouth-watering finish. A persistent fine bead and creamy mousse gives extra lift to these delicious aromas and flavours.
