Cracka Review

This is the top shelf pinot noir from Diamond Valley, and a few years of maturity has given it some extra dimensions. Aromas of preserved plums, pot pourri, deli meats and forest bracken float out of the glass, then the medium-bodied palate chimes in with earthy and plummy flavours, smooth tannins, and a strolling finish with a delicate kick of spice. It's good to go now with some roast duck.

Winemaker's Notes

Beautifully balanced, good acidity and abundant soft tannins. The colour is mid red, deliciously perfumed with plum and exotic spices, rare roast lamb, sage and red fruits. The palate is fleshy and full with succulent acidity and substantial velvet tannins. Made without filtration and minimally handled, this Pinot is very drinkable.

Ken Gargett (2005 Vintage) says
This is the only wine so far in the book that I can honestly say I am drinking as I write the review. For a few years I have suspected that Diamond Valley made close to the best pinot noir in the Yarra Valley and this very fine, tight, almost shy but nonetheless exquisite pinot I am drinking right now has convinced me it's true. The kind of wine to enhance your thought processes, not turn them to mush. Obviously.
