DiGiorgio Lucindale Merlot

Cracka Review

Medium bodied dry red.

Appearance: Medium brick red.

Nose: Complex and lifted, with plum and prune fruit flavours and chocolate like oak characters.

Palate: Ripe plum and spicy/toasty oak characters. The structure is elegant and soft finishing with velvety tannins and a spicy note.

The sweet perfumed Merlot varietal characters are enhanced by measured maturation in spicy French oak barrels. This wine is very soft and elegant with a balanced palate and long savoury finish. A fine example of Australian Merlot at it’s best.

Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
There's real craftsmanship on display here - not something one often hears about Australian merlot, let alone sparkling merlot. It captures the flattering side of Limestone Coast Merlot in its lifted rose petal and red berry bouquet and creamy palate of crunchy red- and blackcurrants, gliding smoothly into a long, concentrated finish supported by gently integrated dark chocolate French oak.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bright, clear red-purple; has a fragrant bouquet with some of the spice, redcurrant, plum and olive notes that appear on the finely structured, medium-bodied palate; the finish is fresh, with minimal tannins; spent 16 months in French and American oak, and a further 6 months in cellar.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Retains good hue; spice, earth and olive notes on the bouquet set the scene for a medium-bodied wine with good varietal character, cassis and spice running through the long palate.

WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Delicate smoky/floral aromas and complexity of varietal fruit flavours on an elegant palate that has a lovely long, savoury finish.

Medium-bodied; quite sweet fruit on the mid-palate is followed by slightly sharp acidity on the finish.
