This Cote du Rhone from Domaine Chante Cigale is elegant and structured which means it will slip down easy at your next dinner party. There's a heap of bright, juicy dark cherry and berry fruit on the nose, accompanied by by whiffs of mocha, dried herbs and crushed leaves. The palate is medium to fuller-bodied, with some fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and a spicy finish.
A deep, soft, sultry Cotes du Rhone from a producer much better-known for its excellent and reasonably priced Chateauneuf. It's 70% Grenache, 20% Carignane, and 10% Syrah. It's on the lower-toned, chocolatey end of the scale.
