Domaine des Bernardins Muscat de Beaumes de Venise (375ml)

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is a sweeter dessert style of wine, but with a difference. It's been fortified slightly, usually to about 15% alcohol, which makes them excellent wines to have with cheese. This ones shows some appealing preserved peaches and apricots on the nose, followed by powerful pear and stone fruits on the sweetish palate, coupled with citrusy acidity to restore the palate.

Winemaker's Notes

Varietal: Muscat à petits grains, white (75%) and black (25%)

Tasting note: The colour shows hints of amber and weathered gold. Intense and complex nose with cooked preserved fruit aromas lifted by citrus notes. Powerful yet balanced on the palate developing prevailing white peach, pear and apricot flavours.

Serve: Chilled between 7 and 8°C as an aperitif or dessert wine. Goes very well with foie gras, Roquefort cheese or even stands up well to chocolate.

Keeping: Domaine des Bernardins’ Muscat does age well, turning copper-coloured, richer and rounder with a very long finish. It will mature well for 20 years or more..

Domaine des Bernardins Wine Reviews and Accolades

‘Spicy, offering creamed peach, nectarine and rose water notes, with flashes of lychee and pink grapefruit on the finish. Frankly sweet, but with a hint of orange zest on the finish to keep it honest.’
