Domaine du Parc St Charles was originally run by the Knights Templar back in the day, so this might be the Holy Grail for shiraz lovers! Hailing from the southern Rhone, this is quite a ballsy, rich style of shiraz that shows plenty of ripe plums, dark fruits and pepper spice on the nose, with definite hints of meaty savouriness. This all carries through to the palate flavours that are plush and fleshy, with a slight grip to the sandy tannins, some brightness to the acidity, and a decent savoury-edged finish. This big boy is good for the next couple of years with some lamb shanks.
Great colour. The fruit here is again concentrated but finer and more high toned, more precise. The palate has lovely richness but is balanced by lovely pure acidity and grainy ripe tannins. Quite delightful.
