Tyson Stelzer (2010 Vintage) says
If you love pinot but can’t afford decent Burgundy (hello there!), I’ve found the wine for you. Mercurey is a lesser outpost of proper red Burgundy, but the low-yielding and high quality 2010 vintage has produced a cracker from Faiveley’s Clos des Myglands vineyard. There is a delightful focus of red and black cherry fruits, notes of brambles and a hint of anise on the bouquet. The palate begins juicy, fruit-focused and friendly, then pulls into a well-balanced finish of fine, soft tannins, subtle herbal complexity and tangy acidity. For an affordable Burgundy that’s ready to play right away, this is as accurate as it comes.
