Bonnes-Mares does not relate to a well-behaved horse, it's actually a top Burgundian region that is highly saut-after by pinotphiles. This is a powerful number in the context of pinot noir, and shows aromas of blackberries, toasted cedar and exotic spices on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and tightly coiled like a cat waiting to pounce, with fine-grained tannins, taut acidity, and a long, lingering length. This will reward careful cellaring as it is still a foal!
It starts with an intoxicating perfume of spicy forest fruits. The flavours sit broadly across the palate delivering powerful sensations to every part of the palate in perfect harmony. And they seem to last and last. The oak is milder than you might expect - to make way for the glorious Bonnes Mares pinot. Nirvana for the pinotphile!
Reviews and Accolades
"Dark colour. Profound nose mingling ripe fruit and toasted oak notes. Seductive volume, melted texture and superb freshness enhancing very pure fruit. Superlative elegant, subtle aging." 95 Points - Gilbert and Gaillard Guide des Vins - Sept 2010
