Domaine Fougeray De Beauclair Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seu
Wines from Gevery-Chambertin in Burgundy tend to be at the more 'muscle-bound' end of the pinot noir scale. This one is no expection, showing dense dark cherries and red berries with savoury, almost mushroom scents, and a generous lick of spice on the nose. The palate is powerful, but elegant and medium-bodied, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, dry finish. It's a great food wine, and would be great with duck.
Strong colour leads to a nose typical of Burgundy Pinot. Black and red fruits but with an earthy savoury spicy touch. A full palate delivering power without weight. Good acidity and fine tannins cleanse the palate ready for food. A very long, linear finish. No wonder Gevrey-Chambertin is such a favourite with Pinot lovers.
