Domaine La Roquète Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A blend of 70% grenache, 20% syrah and 10% mourvedre, this is a powerful single-estate wine from the Plateau de Pielong that shows a more modern, slightly showy and more playful side than the Telegraphe wines. It smells of ripe, glossy cherries and wild raspberries, some pomegranate too, herbs and a fragrant, musky lift. The palate brings a wealth of structure; fine, lithe and fluffy tannins gather weight and presence throughout, closing with impressive, juicy conviction. Will age superbly.

A blend of 70% grenache, 20% syrah and 10% mourvèdre from 45-year-old vines on the Plateau de Pielong. Quite deep, almost an earthy mushroom and truffle edge to the nose; there's a wealth of ripe berry fruits, some fine, fragrant notes and impressive freshness. Very forthright palate with sweeping rose and red/ dark berry fruit flavour, all laid out on supple, sturdy tannins, really juicy and satisfying, with captivating resolve. Terrific wine!
