Domaine Remi Jobard Volnay 1er Cru les Santenots Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Single vineyard wines seem to be thing with Remi Jobard. This time we take a trip to Volnay and into pinot noir. This is a very pretty, seductive wine that shows a fragrance of red berries, dried rose petals, earthy spices, and star anise on the nose. The palate is light to medium-bodied and dry, with a graceful, silky mouthfeel with plummy and spice flavours, fine-grained tannins, and some tightness to the long, cassis-like finish. This will benefit from a couple of years in the cellar.

Winemaker's Notes

This single vineyard red Burgundy shows many more of the region’s typical characteristics than its counterpart from Monthelie. The nose displays beautiful earthy and spicy notes as well as subtle aromas of cooked mushrooms, cinnamon stick and oak driven vanilla characters. The palate is exceptionally elegant presenting smooth silky tannins and perfectly ripe red currant fruit. An excellent red Burgundy from an outstanding vintage.

Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
Clean, pure, modern, age-worthy Burgundy under screw cap - bring it on! Subtle Austrian oak lets the distinctive dried herb, pepper, ironstone and red fruits of Vonay speak.
