Driftwood Estate Semillon

Cracka Review

Brilliant straw in colour, the 2005 Semillon has intense aromas of citrus and exotic herbs. The palate is developed, with flavours of peach and tangelo and light nutty characters. Great Margaret River Semillon ageing beautifully.

COLOUR - Delicate pale straw.

AROMATICS - A vibrant array of honeysuckle and mown grass with a lemony lift and the beginnings of a delicate veil of nutty developed character.

PALATE - Crisp and clean, intense lemon and grass varietal flavours with a promising hint of maturity.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Strong varietal aromas of dried and fresh-cut grass; good texture, but seems too hard.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium yellow-green; a very rich and complex bouquet with strong tropical overtones to the herb fruit, and an echo of what may be a touch of barrel ferment. The palate is equally complex, with many characteristics of very ripe sauvignon blanc, but does not convincingly carry its 13.7 degrees alcohol.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; a crisp and tangy bouquet of medium intensity leads on to an elegant palate, with tangy/herbaceous fruit and the undoubted potential to develop.
