Dunsborough Hills Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

There’s something special in those hills at Dunsborough, or so we say at least. This blend pairs the mellowness of Merlot with the structure of Cabernet to create a red that’s more generous than the sum of its parts. Expect a wine that’s got the generosity of a warm hug and the nobility of a statesman. It’s full of plum and black fruits with some charry oak before a soft, smooth palate of snug tannins and persistent length.

Winemaker's Notes

2008 was an excellent vintage where our grapes achieved optimum ripeness and perfect condition. Generous, ripe fruit gives a soft, rounded wine which has married nicely with the restrained oak. Merlot dominant and fruit driven, the Cabernet gives the wine structure, complexity and backbone. A wine to enjoy with a wide variety of meats and cheeses, and one which is already a fine drink, and will improve over

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; clean, youthful raspberry and redcurrant aromas show no hint of greenness; the similarly youthful but attractive palate has a mix of cassis and red berry fruit; minimal oak influence, and very good value. Possibly assisted by micro-oxygenation.
