Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
Good packaging, an attractive price, a respectable maker (the Langmeil Winery) and a great region. Sounds like a promising combination ... Lovely purple colour, and, once it's given a bit of time to breathe, it drinks reasonably well. It tastes of warm, spirity alcohol, blackberries, tar and stewed plums, the alcohol just a touch too much for the weight of flavour. This is designed to be consumed in the middle of winter, when it quaffs quite well.

Here's a bright young Barossa shiraz that has rich, concentrated redcurrant and dark plum flavours, smooth, almost velvety texture and soft ripe tannins.
