James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Glowing green-yellow; has enough weight and flavour to lift it out of the ruck of often boring unoaked chardonnays; good food style, but don't delay.

Max Allen & Peter Forrestal (2001 Vintage) says
With the amount of talk these days of the advantages of cool-climate viticulture, it's a delight to see how well a warm region like the Barossa can do with a style of wine like this. The 2001 Elderton is an opulent, full-flavoured chardonnay with intense, ripe, passionfruit, pineapple and tropical fruit flavours. This is a lively, tangy white that is made to be drunk while it's fresh and youthful.
