Eldridge Estate of Red Hill Clonal Blend Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Mid crimson; a finely detailed and elegant pinot noir, with red fruits, sap, cold tea and Asian spices on display, alongside some very fine French oak; the palate is fine, silky and expansive, layered and complex; subtle and ethereal, long and engaging.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Bright hue; an impressive bouquet with an abundance of red fruits and a hint of spice is followed by a detailed palate; here touches of undergrowth add complexity to the flavour and the structure of the wine, effectively a reserve blend of the 6 clones planted on the estate.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bright, light crimson; by far the most powerful and savoury of the three '08 Pinot releases, introducing both plum and a strongly textured palate, thanks to spicy/savoury tannins.

Clear crimson; a fragrant bouquet is followed by a long palate with perfect tension between red fruits and more spicy/savoury overtones to the fine tannins.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Ripe red fruit and plums, with a strong spicy note at the heart; good flavour, and elegantly structured, and nice grip on the finish.

Campbell Mattinson (2006 Vintage) says
David Lloyd has planted a number of different pinot noir clones' (different types of pinot noir) on his property. He picks each separately and keeps them apart in the winery, producing a range of different pinot noirs from each vintage. Some he bottles individually, others he blends. This is the blend. 2006 RELEASE Delightfully fragrant and strawberried, the sweet lift of it a joy to stick anywhere near your nose. There's a slightly heavy sense of syrupy, polished oak sitting atop that luscious fruitiness, but time should meld the two together. Fresh acidity, a healthy crack of tannin, and a good, crisp, lingering finish. It needs extra bottle time, but it is very good. DRINK 2010-2016.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Stylish; light- to medium-bodied; spicy, savoury cherry fruits; clean finish; seems to be a blend of lesser barrels.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Very good colour, still red; abundant and concentrated rich plum fruit; long and impressive finish; still in its infancy.
