Deep gold, the 2009 vintage was made from unspecified grape varieties, harvested at 47 to 53 brix at Te Awanga, in Hawke's Bay, and fermented in French oak barriques (40 per cent new). Showing a powerful botrytis influence, it is low in alcohol (7 per cent) and unabashedly sweet (366 grams/litre of residual sugar), very lush and oily, with fresh, vibrant, splendidly concentrated apricot and honey flavours. A decadent mouthful, it's hard to resist.
