For such a cool climate, Tassie can do rich Chardonnay surprisingly well. Who knew? Actually, all of us knew, such is the reputation of this region (a regions which is actually an entire state).
Anyway this falls into the 'rich' camp, built in a form that is bold and toasty, full of creamy golden fruit yet still with plenty of acidity. NIce.
The 2008 Elmslie Chardonnay is a powerful barrel fermented and matured Chardonnay bursting with aromas of cinnamon and grapefruit. A balanced, full bodied wine with soft acids and a subtle palate laced with smoky oak and yeast.
