Esk Valley Hawke's Bay Merlot Malbec Rosé

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2012 Vintage) says
Bright pink, medium-bodied blend of merlot (70 per cent) and malbec (30 per cent). Lively, raspberry and spice flavours, with a hint of apricot, and fresh acidity. Slightly leaner than past vintages, but fresh, dry and full-flavoured.

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
This is New Zealand's best widely available rose. The 2002, blended from Merlot (73 per cent) and Malbec, grown in Hawke's Bay, is a bone-dry, substantial (14 per cent alcohol) wine with strong raspberryish and strawberryish flavours, a hint of spice and a well-rounded finish. The bright pink 2003 vintage has fresh, berryish aromas and a smooth, rich palate with gentle acidity and cherryish, raspberryish flavours, full of drink-young charm.
