Faber Vineyard Verdelho

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is perhaps the most serious Verdelho in the land, a wine that shows this poor, utterly unsexy variety can perform much better than many give it credit for. Here it makes for a juicy, ripe, thick wine of viscosity but not sweetness, a wine of serious intensity yet not excess fat. If only more Verdelhos would be like this and the variety might get another go!

Winemaker's Notes

The best white in the Swan Valley using fruit from Faber Vineyard and other local vineyards. Made from cold fermented free run juice. Bursting with bright, ripe nectarine and sherbetty aromas. Full flavoured and dry. Finishes quite long and rich and leaves a soft, fresh, dry finish.

Griffiths really does know his stuff when it comes to making verdelho. The fruit freshness has been captured decisively. IT's round and fruity with a crisp fine acid. Strong varietal character makes for delightful current drinking although the variety can be cellared for a few years.

Vibrant lively tightly framed verdelho. Has good fruit intensity with stacks of flavour. Good long finish with a crisp lingering acidity. Nice wine with stacks of fruit weight. Certainly in the fuller and rounder category.

Another beautiful verdelho from Griffiths. I liked last years but I think the slightly more restrained version from 2010 appeals even more. Has plenty of fruit intensity and a lovely pristine acid sustaining the finish. Palate feel and texture are features of an excellent wine.

Produced from one of the Swan Valley's oldest vineyards; has focus and intensity, with length and texture more important than the gentle fruit salad flavours; has time in front of it.

Absolutely beautiful example of a young Swan Valley verdelho in all its punch vibrant tropical fruit glory. Intense aromas of tropical fruits lifted with a little squeeze of lime juice. It's zippy and racy on the palate with a very long intense finish.

A really punchy, tropical fruit-laden verdelho. Beautifully pure and fresh with lively fine acidity and mouth filling flavours. You can tuck into this now or put a little in the cellar for a few years time.

Well-made and clean; fruit salad/stone fruit/pear; good length and acidity.

The lively zesty fruit of this Verdelho has Swan Valley stamped all over it Ð well I hope it has. It's just terrific. The fruit has an underlying sweet lusciousness, yet this is a dry and beautifully made wine. Excellent
