Cracka Review

Everything is coming up Rose with this svelte offering from Sutton Grange wines under their Fairbank label. Bright red berried fruit adorns the nose, together with some soft spice and sniffs of herbaceousness. The palate is light and slightly spritzy with a fruity middle and a zippy, refreshing finish. No need for food, just chill and enjoy.

Winemaker's Notes

Very pale pink gold with light pink hue. Very good limpidity and good brilliance.

Good intensity, needs a little bit of aeration to express the ranges of odours. Spicy (nutmeg), fruity (peach) and floral (peony) are forming a mix which is evolving as the wine is aerated. The first impression is tactile with a slight 'frizante' touch, followed by the creamy texture and a refreshing acidity.  The wine is then showing the aromatics seen on the nose. The volume of the mouthfeel is balanced by the acidity and the spritz, and is showing some length with the aromas.

2013 was a dry year hence the decision not to take any 'saignee'(bleeding) from the reds. The resulting wine is quite intense, with a strong mouthfeel allowing this rose to match perfectly the summer antipasto.

A vibrant and fruit-laden rose with length, freshness and a lively, lightly floral and dusty bouquet of raspberries and red cherris with faintly herbal nuances. Sweetly fruited and juicy, with a bright forward presence of raspberries and cherries, it becomes more dusty, herbal and savoury down the palate, finishing with a refreshing acidity.

A deliciously savoury, fresh and lively rose whose bouquet of raspberries and cherries is lifted by scents of pink flowers, pepper and a light dustiness. It's long, pristine, fresh and full of life, with brightly lit fruit supported by a fine chalkiness and a fresh acidity, finishing with excellent length, a mere hint of sweetness, focus and a refreshing, balanced acidity.

Terrific fresh wild strawberry aromas in this pale pink rose; smells sweet and pure. The palate carries a core of deeply textural sweet fruit flavour - more strawberry here too - and finishes crisp, dry and even. Utterly delicious stand-alone drink.

Complex barrel-fermented style, with early-picked Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot; bone-dry, and with good texture; a cerebral rose.

Fresh, light to medium-bodied; some small red fruits; nicely balanced, dry finish. Shiraz/Cabernet Saignee.

This is a traditionally French style pink wine, not at all like those bright as cherry pie, glowing things I love from the Borossa Valley, No this is a more serious pink wine (can pink wine be serious?) that is made from shiraz grapes grown at the Fairbank property south of Bendigo in Central Victoria. This is a superb food wineÑ-perfect for pate and cornichons, a game of petanque and a ham baguette. You'd never guess the winemaker was French.
