Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2004 Vintage) says
In top vintages, this Brancott Valley vineyard produces a weighty style with an appealing, floral bouquet and deep stone-fruit, pear and spice flavours, but the latest releases are less memorable. The 2004 is lemony and tart, lacking real delicacy and richness, with pear and spice flavours but a slightly hard finish.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
This Brancott Valley vineyard produces a weight)' style with an appealing, floral bouquet and deep stone-fruit, pear and spice flavours, typically threaded with crisp Marlborough acidity. The initial releases were robust, dry and richly alcoholic, but the 2001 and outstanding 2002 vintages have a touch of residual sugar. Notably rich, ripe and rounded, with strikingly deep flavours and a slightly sweet finish, the 2002 is a finely balanced wine with highly impressive weight, richness and harmony. Drink now onwards.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
This Brancott Valley vineyard produces a full-bodied style with deep stone-fruit, pear and spice flavours threaded with crisp Marlborough acidity. The 1999 and 2000 were dry and robust, but to achieve a more approachable style, the 2001 vintage was stop-fermented with a touch of residua] sugar, which lowered the alcohol level to around 13 per cent. Faintly pink-hued, it is weighty and ripe, with strong varietal character and a crisp finish.
