As the name says, this is an off-dry style of Riesling out of Western Australia, and it has a bit of a spritz to it. Aromas of citrus and honeysuckle float out of the glass and jump onto the palate, which is light-bodied and zippy, with a hit of sweetness upfront that gives way to lemony flavours and a bright, fresh finish. Great with spicy dishes.
Wine style: Light-bodied white wine.
Winemakers comments: A wine to challenge the consumer, a Riesling to push the boundaries. A striking balance between residual sweetness, low alcohol and natural acidity with light and persistent bubbles to give a foamy texture.
Vinification: The grapes were harvested in the early morning and crushed ever so gently to the press. Juice was then patiently drained and settled prior to controlled fermentation. The fermentation was halted when a balance between acidity, alcohol and residual sweetness was met.
Appearance: Pale green.
Nose: Cumquat, key lime, scented lemon leaves and fresh spring blossom.
Palate: Fresh citrus and lime balanced by residual sweetness reminiscent of fresh fruit with a zippy citrus twang and gentle fizz.
Cellaring: Drink now while the fresh fruit flavours dominate.
Food: Serve with spicy Asian style chicken and salad.
Serve: Slightly chilled 8-12C.
