James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; a sophisticated and subtle bouquet with cashew, melon and citrus is followed by a particularly well-focused and balanced palate in which the barrel-ferment and malolactic-ferment inputs have been handled with great finesse.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
This rich-flavoured Marlborough Chardonnay is produced by John Belsham, part-owner and manager of Rapaura Vintners (formerly Vintech). The 1997 shows classical restraint and good aging potential. Fully fermented in French oak, it's firm, mealy and crisp, with an excellent concentration of citrus and melon-like flavours and highish acidity. An elegant, tightly structured and complex wine, it's best kept to 2000. The 1998 vintage is an immaculate, savoury and complex wine, fermented in French oak barriques (40 per cent new). A weighty wine with ripe citrus/melon flavours, a hint of butterscotch and a soft finish, it's fairly forward; drink 2000.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium yellow-green; the bouquet is complex, but has relatively restrained barrel- erment and malolactic-ferment inputs. Suave, smooth melon fruit, with just a hint of creamy/nutty mlf influence, runs through a long, well-balanced palate.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green; a super-smooth, clean bouquet with melon fruit and subtle oak heralds an unusually elegant and harmonious palate, with restrained hazelnut, cashew and melon flavours, which linger long in the mouth.
