Still on sale, the delicious 2005 vintage was estate-grown at Rapaura and in the Awatere Valley. Hand-picked at 23.5 to 25 brix, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 14 months in French oak barriques, and bottled without filtering. A fleshy, deeply coloured wine with an abundance of sweet, ripe, cherryish, spicy flavours, 'forest floor' notes adding complexity and velvety tannins, it shows excellent depth and finesse.
