Winemaker Rod McDonald set out to make a 'gutsy' style 'but without too much oak'. The debut 2008 vintage was lees-aged in barrels and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. A mouthfilling wine, it has generous, peachy, slightly spicy flavours, a hint of butterscotch, and a well-rounded finish. Enjoyable in its youth, it offers good value.
