The impressively intense 2000 is a beautifully poised and delicate wine with lemony, slightly minerally flavours and a zingy, lasting finish. The slightly drier (five grams/litre of sugar) and softer 2001 vintage is bright, light lemon/green, with a bouquet that has yet to fully unfurl, but the palate is substantial (13.5 per cent alcohol) and rich, with lovely depth of citrusy, slightly spicy flavour and a crisp, racy finish. Delicious now, it will be even better with cellaring.
