Fuddling Cup Cabernet Sauvignon

Ray Jordan (2007 Vintage) says
This is a far firmer and tighter cabernet made along more classical lines with the firm ripe tannins, excellent quality oak and concentrated fruit all coming together into a tight coil on the palate. When it starts to unwind with age it will really hit its straps. The perfumed notes of cedary and floral cabernet make an appealing opening.

Another excellent stylish cabernet from this small producer. I love the elegance and form with classic leafy black currant aromas and a tight and powerful palate. Chalky tannins are firm and the oak adds a little astringency. Focus and linear in structure with a lingering finish. Cellaring potential here as well.

The cabernets from this small producer have been consistently exceptional. This one is another cracker. Rich black currant, dark chocolate and cedary dark cherry characters provide such a wonderful bouquet of mix scents. The palate is succulent and lavish with rich primary fruit flavours supported by firm tannin and fine grained French oak. It's a seamlessly structured yet still powerful wine.

There have been some very good Cabernets from Fuddling Cup but I think this is about the best. Has the richness of the 2007 with the elegance of the 2006. It all comes together so easily in this effortlessly long and richly textured wine. Excellent structure of ripe tannins and beautifully judged oak. Excellent wine.

A wine that has done a seriously good job of cleaning up on the wine show circuit, this an impressively concentrated cassis and leaf-style cabernet, showing sturdy structure and stylish oak. Admirable now, but enjoyable later - best from 2016.
