Gabriel Meffre Laurus Chateauneuf du Pape

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

From an excellent year comes this Chateauneuf-du-Pape from Gabriel Meffre. It's a red blend that has a fair bit of grenache and shiraz in the mix, and shows lots of dark berries and licorice on the nose, along with pepper spice and a bit of 'barnyard'. The palate is full-bodied and musclebound, with juicy, ultra-ripe fruit flavours, surprisingly approachable tannins, and a finish that gives the tonsils a warm alcohol cuddle. Needs some rare red meat for company!

Winemaker's Notes

Deep concentrated garnet-red robe. The nose develops a mix of smoky and spicy notes with a slight animal character, typical of this appellation. Full-bodied, robust and rich, a wine with elegant tannins and a lengthy finish. Can age well for 10 to 12 years.
