James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bright colour; red fruits, mint and herbaceous notes of sage are evident on the bouquet; the palate is firm, dry and savoury, with a core of sweet red fruit providing energy on the finish. Heathcote/Alpine Valleys.

Lots of very soft varietal tannins, black cherry, black pepper. These are not expensive for the flavours they deliver.

Clever integration of sweet fruit and sweet oak to off-set the savoury underlay.

Jeremy Oliver (2001 Vintage) says
A flavoursome shiraz with under and over-ripe qualities, whose unusually floral bouquet reveals sweet red berries, blood plums and vanilla/cedary oak backed by cloves and pepper, with herbaceous tobaccoey, menthol-like and meaty influences. Framed by slightly sappy and metallic tannins, there's plenty of bright jujube-like red berry fruit, but an undercurrent of tobacco, menthol and capsicum. Lacks genuine ripeness and balance.
