Campbell Mattinson (2005 Vintage) says
Gapsted is the premium branded arm of the large Victorian Alps contract winemaking facility based near Myrtleford in Victoria's north-east alpine district. Seems strange that their premium wine contains South Australian grapes - so much for making the most of the home region. 2005 RELEASE The wine is good. In fact it's very good. It has a juicy appeal that almost stops you in your tracks, the blend of pure, silken, cassis-like fruit and sawdusty, creamy oak as seamless as it is sensational. I love the smell and taste of this wine. Winemaker Michael Cope Williams has done a super job with it. DRINK 2008-2016.
