James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Bright, clear crimson-purple; the fragrant red and black fruit bouquet leads into a multi-flavoured, silky and supple palate with blackberry, plum, cedar and spice to the fore. Fermented with 50% whole bunches, then 12 months in French oak barriques hogsheads, 35% new; neither fined nor filtered; 120 dozen made from century-old vines.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Some regional mint, along with touches of spice and mint, all add up to a light- to medium-bodied savoury stye.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Strong purple-red; ripe black cherry, clove and spice aromas, then a medium-bodied, elegant palate, driven by blackberry fruit

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Very good purple-red; there is fresh plum and cherry fruit on the bouquet together with an edge of charry American oak. The tightly structured palate is driven by plum/cherry fruit and firm tannins, the oak not being the least intrusive.

James Halliday (1995 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet has a marvellous array of dark chocolate, black cherry and spice fruit, the palate displaying the same flavours with that typical restrained power and super-fine tannin structure of Great Western.
