Cracka Review

Now, here's a savvy that has a bit of history in the mix, and is awesome value! Most of the fruit comes from a single vineyard, but some of it comes from quite possibly the oldest sav blanc vines in the world thought to be over 100-years old, so they really should be charging more for this! The wine itself is tropical and citrusy in its smells and flavours, with hints of pepper spice and herbaceousness. It's all wrapped up in zippy, zesty acidity leading to a crisp, dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

GMH Sauvignon Blanc 2013: the majority of this Sauvignon Blanc was grown at the K1 vineyard and from the ‘old block’ which was planted in 1987. The other 20% Sauvignon Blanc is from McLaren Vale and Geoff believes these may be the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines in the world at over 100 years old. This vineyard was originally planted by Geoff’s Great-Great-Grandfather Thomas Hardy and is now owned and run by Helen Hardy, a cousin of Geoff's.

Appearance: Brilliant white-gold with a hint of green.

Nose: Tropical aromatics of guava, ripe mango, blood orange and lemon zest. Underneath are smooth components of white pepper, stewed peach and a delicate touch of asparagus.

Palate: A clean and well-structured palate keeps the tropical flavours with a bright acid and dry finish.
