Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Elegant, charming, fine-grained and approachable, with an earthy, smoky, leathery and chocolatey bouquet of red and black berries backed by secondary aromas of lanolin, baked earth and old cedar furniture. It's sweetly fruited, polished and fine-grained, with a juicy presence of cassis, mulberries and blackberries over notes of licorice and raspberry, finishing smooth and supple with a hint of briar.
The Australian Wine Annual 2012
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Light to medium red-purple; a testament to the quality and staying power of the Í06 vintage; the bouquet is fragrant, with some spice and truffle notes, red berry and cassis on the finely structured, medium-bodied palate, oak and tannins well balanced and totally integrated. Approaching its best-by date.

WINESTATE (2004 Vintage) says
Lovely old, rich classic with great depth and many layers. Resinous lift to the nose and great development, weight and complexity on the palate.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Almost stridently regional, so strong is the dark chocolate overlay to the blackcurrant fruit; oak also makes a statement. Curious wine

WINESTATE (2003 Vintage) says
Beautifully aged red; very good but starting to dry out. Has classic ripe fruit and spicy, cigar box characters. Drink now.
WINESTATE Volume 34 (2011) 2011
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Colour not bright, but is holding its hue; shows the cool '02 vintage right from the outset; a wine of length and finesse, but no cleavage
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
WINESTATE (2002 Vintage) says
Charming, developed, minty bouquet and harmonious palate with good sweet fruit concentration, persistent tannins, tobacco oak and long, lingering acid finish.
Winestate 2009
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; spicy/savoury/cedary nuances to the gentle black fruits and regional chocolate; mocha, oak and fine tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
WINESTATE (2001 Vintage) says
Developed, soy-like aromas with earthy complexity. Leathery, oaky flavours show nice bottle age characters.
Winestate 20082009

A complex mix of savoury, blackcurrant and dark chocolate fruits; fine lingering tannins, good French/American oak; 430 cases made.
