Geoff Weaver Cabernet Merlot

Cracka Review

Aroma: Ripe fragrant blackberry fruit, with hints of earth.

Palate: Generous and supple. Concentrated, finely textured and complex. Ideal with red meats but can be enjoyed with a wide range of foods or on its own.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
The decision to keep a part of the make for extended bottle age, and thus a museum release, has been fully justified. This is a rare opportunity to buy a fully mature wine direct from the cellar of the maker. All the components of dark berry fruits, oak and tannins have joined seamlessly and harmoniously. There will, I suppose, be some bottle variation, but itÍs hard to imagine a more perfect bottle than this one.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; a light but high-toned bouquet with a mix of earthy, savoury and sappy aromas is followed by a powerful, austere palate with a mix of olive, leaf, earth and berry; all in all, a wine with distinct Bordeaux affinities.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium purple-red; a bouquet of fresh, clean, berry fruit, plus a touch of mint and subtle oak, leads into a palate with good structure, balance and length, driven by red berry fruit, and supported by silky, fine tannins.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium purple-red; the bouquet is distinctly earthy with some tobacco overtones; .a leafy, minty cool-climate style, which will appeal to some more than others.
