Gilligan McLaren Vale Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Good colour for the vintage; there has been a concerted effort to build and extract structure; it has succeeded, but the fruit has been overwhelmed.
Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition 2013
James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Dense purple-crimson; a powerful, voluptuous, full-bodied wine; the flavours are of black (predominant) and red fruits combined with earthy/chocolatey notes affirming its terroir; the tannins and oak are of the appropriate weight given the density of the black fruit flavours. Will be long lived.
Australian Wine Companion 2013 2012
James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Strong, vibrant crimson-purple; an altogether superior example of this blend (79%/12%/9%); despite the alcohol, has attractive and fresh black fruits from the shiraz, red fruits from the other two components; oak and tannins are perfectly pitched.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Deep purple-red; richly robed and fruited in a way only McLaren Vale can achieve; luscious black fruits, dark chocolate and mocha. Great now or later with a T-bone.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Supple, succulent blackberry and plum fruit, the texture and flavour led by the shiraz, but with the strength of McLaren Vale coming through on the other 2 varieties.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Light- to medium-bodied; smooth, sweet and supple fruit, the grenache component in particular making its presence felt. Easy going style. Stained Diam.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Mourvedre adds stiffening and structure; a touch more black fruits coming from the cool '02 vintage; considerable length.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
