Glen Eldon Wines Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Glen Eldon has become synonymous for creating wines that excel in regional excellence. This shows the potential of Barossa Cabernet as the region has producing this noble grape for well over a century. This wine achieved a score of 93 from wine critic James Halliday as you’ll discover why on first taste. Aromas of black fruits, spice and mocha reveal themselves before a palate laden with ripe plum and chocolate continues. This is a wine that proves that lamb and Cabernet are natural bed fellows.

Winemaker's Notes

Glen Eldon Wines philosophy is to produce rich, varietal regional wines. Our Cabernet Sauvignon exemplifies this. With such intense fruit in 2010 fermentation on skins was restricted to five days before being pressed off and the pressing being returned to the freerun.

Maturation took place in a blend of French and American Oak hogsheads which has added further structure and complexity to the wine. Although the wine is drinking superbly now it will benefit from further maturation over the next 6 – 8years.

Appearance: Deep Rick Brick.

Nose: Spice, Blackberries and mocha.

Palate: Rich ripe plum and chocolate flavours.

Food: We recommend you enjoy this wine with roast lamb and rosemary jus.

Excellent colour; a perfectly ripened wine, with strong blackcurrant, cassis and cedar flavours, the tannins lined up in precise support, oak likewise.

Intense cassis and blackcurrant fruit; a very long palate with silky fruit, good tannins and fine oak. If this wine was previously labelled 'Dry Bore' it has improved out of sight.

Pleasant, medium-bodied, well balanced and structured; sweet fruit and fine tannins.
