Glenmark Waipara Red

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
This North Canterbury red is typically crisp, berryish and leafy. The 2001 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70 per cent), Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. Fullish in colour, it's fruity, plummy and smooth, with distinctly herbaceous aromas and flavours. You could call it an 'old-style New Zealand red', but it has a certain gutsy, flavoursome appeal.

Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
The 1997 vintage of this North Canterbury red is based on Cabernet Sauvignon (70 per cent), blended with Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It's a flavoursome, fruity, berryish wine with highish acidity, lacking real warmth and softness. A solid quaffer.

This North Canterbury red is blended from Bordeaux varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. Lacking real warmth and softness, it is typically crisp, berryish and leafy.
