The first 2003 vintage was hand-picked on Waiheke Island and fermented and lees-aged for eight months in French oak barriques, with partial malolactic fermentation. Pale straw, it has high-ish acidity, but is tightly structured and elegant, with grapefruit and peach flavours, showing good depth, and oaky, mealy characters adding complexity. Drink now onwards.
