Goldwater Pinot Gris

Cracka Review

Goldwater is quite a good description of this Pinot Gris from Marlborough, that’s because it’s close to Gold in colour yet tastes much more exciting than water. Hold off buying the Savvy from this region for a while and give this fuller variety a chance. You’ll be rewarded by a wine that is imbued with aromas of pear and spice before a generously textured palate. Great fruit profile with clean acids that would pair well with weightier dishes of pork or fish.

Winemaker's Notes

Goldwater Wines have been producing expressive Marlborough wines since 1992. Our wines are sustainably produced and nurtured through the growing season by our talented and experienced team. These wines showcase the best the Wairau Valley of Marlborough has to offer.

This wine is pale straw gold in colour and intensely aromatic with aromas of fresh pear and spice. The palate displays real fruit intensity accentuated by rich ripe flavours with stone fruit and spice nuances. It has a soft, full mouth feel and is well balanced with an elegant, long finish.

Drink now while young and vibrant, however will reward careful cellaring for up to 5 years.

Ideal as an aperitif but will pair well with most clean, fresh dishes.

Goldwater Pinot Gris

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
There s a flinty, stony edge to this wine; give it some air to reveal dried pear aromas, grassy elements and beeswax. The palate s creamy and even, apple and pear flavours mingle amid decent, fleshy shape.
