Gosset Grande Reserve Brut

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Out of all the Gosset Champagnes, this is the one that delivers over its price point, and is one of the most reliable NV Champagnes you can buy. Once again, it is a rich style of Champagne, but it comes across much drier than the Excellence Brut. Buttered toast, poached apples, red berries, yellow citrus and delicate florals rise from the glass, whilst the palate is lush and medium-bodied, with nutty, apple and citrus flavours, a decent zip of lemony acidity, and some tempting red fruits and brioche on the long finish. You simply can't go wrong with this one!

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Bright and golden in colour.

Nose: The attractive and expressive nose evokes flavours of ripe red blackcurrants, wheat, dried fruits and gingerbread. A promise-filled introduction of outstanding concentrated yet refreshing gourmet scents.

Palate: The palate is dominated by refreshing mineral notes combined with a warm and consistent flavour echoing the wine’s richness and plumpness. From under a rich expression of ripe and dried fruit, a gentle persistent freshness comes through. A subtle and beautifully crafted framework which is the signature of Gosset champagnes.

Food: Undoubtedly a wine for the table, a perfect match with sweet and subtly spiced dishes of cooked fruit, sweet and sour, tajines, etc. This Champagne is a dual personality that gladly complements elaborate dishes with simplicity as by nature it is both tender and tense and sophisticated and confident.

Gosset Grande Reserve Brut

Nick Stock says
A superb non-vintage champagne with plenty of finesse and intensity - more intensity than most! Gösset packs layers of aroma and flavour into this wine with focused red apple aromas and exuberant, fragrant lift. Focused red fruit palate, bright, precise acidity and a fresh flurry of strawberry flavour through the finish. Truly superb!

Non-vintage wine, as the name suggests, is made from a blend of different years’ harvests. Vintage wine, by contrast, is made from just one. Gosset takes exactly the same model as Krug and blends vintage wines together to make this very special Grande Resérve. It has the power and majesty of an aged vintage Champagne but the price point of an NV. This is the wine that really smart connoisseurs choose when they want to impress their mates but not appear to be too vulgar.

The fat bottle of Gosset is a statement of class, exuding aromas of nougat, lemon zest and sugar cane, and flavours cut with the pure lemon juice of malic acidity.

Attractive toasty, apple blossom bouquet. Quite yeasty palate with elegant flavours and good level of acidity.
