Granite Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Review

One of the best vintages in recent times, this wine leads with the ripe fragrance of Cabernet Franc followed by the deeper blackcurrant fruit of Cabernet Sauvignon and warm spicy cedar oak. The palate is full and softly textured, with ripe berry fruit and chocolate flavours, framed by smooth mature tannins. This Cabernet is drinking beautifully now, but will reward careful cellaring until at least 2012.

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Elegant, smooth and vibrant, this earlier-maturing wine is now close to its peak. An earthy, floral bouquet of slightly green-edged and herbal fruit precedes a fine-grained palate of vibrant cassis and small dark berry fruit and fresh cedar/vanilla oak, backed by nuances of mint. Underpinned by supple tannins, it finishes slightly sappy, with a hint of cardboard. The wine was bottled under screwcap.

Sappy and herbal, with a green-edged presence of small black and red berries and cedar/vanilla oak supported by fine, supple tannins. It dries out towards a thin, dilute finish.

Earthy, herbal and meaty, cedary aromas precede an up-front palate of green-edged small red berries, finishing lean and sappy.
