Cracka Review

If you are looking for a wine that is as soft and comforting as a pair of fluffy slippers, then this one is for you! It is sourced from 40+ year-old vines, has no oak, and shows bright raspberry smells and hints of soft spice that leap onto the soft and juicy, medium-bodied palate, with gentle tannins, bright acidity, and a fresh and fruity finish. It's not a baffling wine, but it is satisfying, and will be great with some steaks straight off the BBQ.

Winemaker's Notes

Valdapenas D.O. is part of the La Mancha sprawl south of Madrid. Generally, hot windy ‘badland’s but nowadays, some determined modernisers are making tidy stuff.

Tierras de Castille y León is a catch-all appellation for wines grown outside the borders of existing D.O.s. Telmo’s Pegaso is in the mountain village of Cebreros west of Madrid. The TDC tag can also be used as a de- classification move if one makes wines contrary to the rules of the appellation within which their winery sits.

Bright and earthy, a radishy edge counters any candy tendency – a direct, appealing and quite subtle wine, considerably charming. Simple, fleshy-earthy with terrific palate poise, crisp-correct fruit tannin and acid.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Very complex, leathery nose with a violet lift. Great depth of sweet cherry and medicinal flavours on a long, gentle palate.
