Grant Burge is one of our favourite winemakers with a long history of making generous, full-bodied red wines that are guaranteed to please. This little number Grant has named after the horse he used to ride to school in Tanunda as a boy and reminds us of good ole fashioned Barossa Shiraz with its lashings of blackberry and mulberry fruit finishing long and with some silky tannins and fine grained oak – super wine at a super price.
The Haybuner Shiraz was picked from a combination of old and young Shiraz vines with fruit crushed and fermented warm to extract maximum colour and flavour. A small proportion was matured in old oak barrels to add further complexity. Full of rich mulberry fruits with soft tannins it will drink well over the next 5 years or more if well cellared.
